Dentures Q & A

What are dentures?

Dentures are artificial replacement teeth that attach to a pink base. There are different types of dentures available, including partial dentures to replace just one tooth or a few missing teeth and full dentures for a full set of teeth.

Millions of Americans have tooth loss. The gaps left by missing teeth can interfere with speech, eating, and other daily tasks. Many people are self-conscious about how missing teeth have changed the look of their smile.

Teeth can sometimes grow at an angle on either side of a gap, leading to additional problems. Dentures are a viable cosmetic and functional solution for tooth loss.

NuSmile Denture Care also offers same-day denture repairs, relines, and refits.

How can I get full dentures?

The denture development process involves multiple office visits. NuSmile Denture Care offers four different types of dentures: economy, basic, analog premium, and digital premium. During your consultation, Mr. Ankermiller helps you decide the right dentures to suit your individual needs.

Mr. Ankermiller first makes impressions of your mouth and teeth and sends the impressions to a dental lab.

The on-site lab makes a stone model from these precise impressions and sends them back to NuSmile, where you try on the wax-up denture. Your denture will be assessed for color, shape, and fit before the final denture is cast.

After the fittings are complete, your final denture is processed at NuSmile’s on-site lab.

How can I get partial dentures?

When you’re missing a number of teeth but not all of your teeth, you might opt for a partial denture.

First, Mr. Ankermiller makes impressions of your mouth and teeth and prepares your teeth to fit your new partial dentures.

The lab makes a model and fabricates blocks to establish a bite relationship between the upper and lower gums or arches.  The procedure for partial dentures is similar to that of full dentures, where you typically have multiple fittings and/or measurements before your dentures are made.
